I agree with Marc. If the program needs to know these things,
it's because these things have semantics. If they have semantics,
and the standard doesn't specify what semantics, that's kind of a
problem. I can't imagine needing to check any of these things
unless specifically doing something whose semantics are undefined
and whose semantics will *still* be undefined, even if it happens
to work in this instance, after the check.
